Getting Started
+ Scheduling an initial visit
If you would like to schedule a diagnostic evaluation, please fill out the Contact Form below or contact me by phone at 314-279-7700.
A comprehensive, clinical diagnostic evaluation consists of a clinical interview with Dr. Luft-Barrett, which typically takes between 1-1.5 hours, as well as the completion of a client history and standardized questionnaires. Once an initial visit is scheduled, you will be sent a link to connect to my HIPPA compliant and secure Client Portal through Simple Practice. Through the Client Portal you will be able to communicate with me via secure message, view and sign consent forms and intake documents, set up billing and payment options, and schedule appointments.
For adults, the evaluation is scheduled over 1 or 2 sessions. For children, I will first meet with parent(s) or legal guardian and will then schedule a time to meet with the child. For adolescents, I will meet with parent(s) or legal guardian and the teen together and separately. After the evaluation, I will provide diagnostic feedback and we will collaboratively identify a treatment plan that meets your goals.
If we determine that I am the best provider to move forward with your treatment plan, we will begin treatment and schedule regular follow-up sessions. If we determine that another provider with different expertise would be a better fit, I will provide you with appropriate referrals and resources.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or via the contact form for a complementary 10-15 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
*Please note that all services are held via Telehealth by SimplePractice, a secure and HIPPA compliant videoconference platform.
+ What to expect from therapy
Once a diagnostic evaluation has been completed and we have identified therapeutic goals and a treatment plan, ongoing therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes weekly, though this may vary based on the type of treatment. Therapy can be brief (12-16 sessions) or may last longer depending on your presenting problems and goals. Please see the Clinical Services page for a more detailed description of services provided.
+ Fees
I am an out-of-network provider and do not participate with any insurance panels. I also do not accept Medicare and Medicaid. I will provide you with invoices that contain the information you will need to submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. Prior to our appointment it may be helpful to contact your provider to find out whether (1) you have out of network coverage for outpatient mental health services, (2) what, if any, is your deductible and has it been met, and (3) what percentage of the fee will be covered by insurance after your deductible is met (called the coinsurance).
+ Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
· You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
· Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.
· You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
· If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
· Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit
www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
+ Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 24 hours notice. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session and provide advance notice, I will make every effort to reschedule for another time within the same week. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or missed will be charged in full.
+ Location
I am licensed to treat individuals located in New York State and Missouri. I am also credentialed to provide teletherapy in PsyPact participating states. Currently all services are being held online using a HIPAA-compliant and secure telehealth platform. Please note that all appointments are scheduled according to Central Standard Time (CST).
